Week of 3/23/20

We hope your family finds you in good health and good spirits.  This morning the Clark County School Board will be having an emergency meeting to make decisions regarding the remainder of the school year.  The meeting begins at 8:00 am and can be streamed through the Clark County School District Website at As part of the District’s learning efforts, all families can access Academic Packets through the District websites. In addition, paper copies of these weekly packets are available at all Nutrition Sites throughout the valley.  The closest site to Gibson is at Green Valley High School (460 N Arroyo Grande Blvd).  Gibson teachers have also been creating learning activities and resources that are tailored to the needs of our students. Feel free to utilize any of the activities to enrich your children’s days.  In addition, here are a few additional ideas for you to access.  The City of Henderson has created resources for students during this difficult time.  They have provided both educational and other social service resources for families, including links for talking to children about coronavirus, information for free/low cost internet and food service in conjunction with CCSD and Three Square.  The link below leads to a list of resources on the Education page of the City of Henderson website. Audible is a resource for listening to stories. In light of school closures, they are offering FREE memberships to students. Starting today, kids everywhere can instantly stream an incredible collection of stories, including titles across six different languages, that will help them continue dreaming, learning, and just being kids. Visit the website at

Finally, we'd like to give a shout out to our Gibson students.  Last week, our students took 312 AR Tests.  We are so proud of you for reading every day! Let's see if we can pass even more tests this week.  :) Know you are in our thoughts, and we miss our students everyday.  We will send a message later this week in order to share updates from the School Board Meeting and provide additional educational resources.  Educationally yours, The Gibson Staff
