KRISTIAN RYERSON: PRINCIPAL
Kristian Ryerson, Principal of Gibson Elementary holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education. She also holds two Master’s Degrees in Mathematics and Education Leadership. Before becoming an administrator, she taught in the Clark County School District (CCSD) working with children in kindergarten, second and third grade classrooms prior to becoming a Math Strategist working with all grade levels K-5 at an elementary school. She later served as a Project Facilitator for the Regional Professional Development Program (RPDP) where she worked with teachers throughout the state of Nevada.
During her time as a general education teacher, Mrs. Ryerson was a Grade Level Chair, served on Learning Improvement Teams, and was an Inclusion Teacher. While working as a Math Strategist, she collaborated with and mentored teachers, co taught lessons in the classroom and worked with parents to help build understanding of mathematical ideas. She has been published in both local and national professional books and journals for her work with students in mathematics.
Mrs. Ryerson also served as a Project Facilitator for the Regional Professional Development Program. In this role, she collaborated with teacher and administrators to improve instruction, worked with both the District and State Board of Education on special projects for CCSD and served on multiple School Support Teams.
Her philosophy of education is to develop the whole child while striving to create independent, critical thinkers. Her focus on learning applies to both our teachers and students. Student safety is a top priority and at Gibson Elementary we work collaboratively to create a safe and respectful learning environment that includes character education, family engagement and leadership opportunities for all.
As a proud Las Vegas native, and a product of the Clark County School District, she is a strong believer in public education.
JILL KEITH: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Our Assistant Principal, Jill Keith, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, two Master’s Degrees, one in Early Childhood Special Education and one in Educational Leadership, and an Advanced Study Certification in Gifted Education. She served in the Clark County School District as a Kindergarten, Second Grade, and Eighth Grade Teacher, a teacher in the Gifted and Talented Education classroom with Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade Students, and most recently, as an Assistant Principal.
During her time as a general education teacher, Mrs. Keith was a Grade Level Chair and inclusion teacher. As a Facilitator in Gifted Programs Education Services, she collaborated with and mentored teachers and trained parents of gifted students, while still working closely educating students.
Mrs. Keith also served in a supplemental position in the Employee Onboarding Department on the Teacher Leader Team. In this capacity, she collaborated with teachers on advancing cognitive demand, and creating and delivering curriculum which offers students metacognitive opportunities for increasing understanding and taking responsibility for learning.
Her goals are to promote quality instructional practices, to analyze data to increase student growth, achievement, and proficiency, to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment through character education, to engage parents and families as advocates for education, and to ensure high-quality customer service with stakeholders.
Mrs. Keith enjoys sharing her enthusiasm and knowledge while inspiring her fellow educators as they strive to positively impact the lives of our students, families, and our surrounding community.
